A: The Aerio name implies aerodynamics, smooth shapes and styling, while the Aerio SX proudly proclaims its sport crossover nature.

Q: What is the Aerio's primary target market?
A: Our research points to growing families and single adults. However, dealer input suggests the Aerio also will appeal to couples and youth wanting to make a personal style statement.

Q: Does Suzuki expect this car to bring a new/different customer to Suzuki showrooms? If so, whom?
A: Yes. We expect it to appeal to the urban utility market wanting to make a significant design statement. This emerging category consists of practical drivers who also want the design, performance and interior and exterior amenities necessary to have more fun with their vehicles.

Q: Why is Suzuki introducing both sedan and sport crossover models?
A: The exterior and interior configurations of the Aerio and Aerio SX have been engineered to fit a variety of passenger and cargo needs, resulting in two vehicles for any lifestyle.

Q: What are the differences between the sedan and sport crossover models? Will the target markets differ?
A: The Aerio sedan offers practical small car owners a new level of performance, affordability and interior and exterior features. The Aerio SX expands the equation with a breakout new vehicle that is part sedan, part versatile cargo and passenger hauler and all sporty, stylish fun. Both models appeal to value-conscious buyers wanting to get the most from their small cars.

Q: What are the significant features of the Aerio? Does it offer AWD?
A: It offers one of the most powerful standard engines in the small car class as well as distinctive aerodynamic styling and interior and exterior features not typically found in this class. All-wheel-drive versions of the Aerio and Aerio SX will be available in September 2002, when weather dictates.

Q: What are the available colors of the new car?
A: White Pearl, Black Onyx, Racy Red, Cosmic Blue Metallic, Silky Silver Metallic, and Brilliant Yellow for the Aerio SX; and White Pearl, Black Onyx, Racy Red, Cosmic Blue Metallic, Silky Silver Metallic, and Cool Beige Metallic for the Aerio Sedan

Q: Where is the Aerio produced?
A: At the Suzuki Kosai assembly plant in Japan.

Q: Will the Aerio replace the Esteem?
A: The Esteem will be discontinued at the end of 2002 model year.

Q: What is the price of the Aerio?
A: Continuing Suzuki's tradition for maximum consumer value, the amenity-laden Aerio Sedan LX and Aerio SX models will offer an MSRP under the $18,000 small car price threshold. The MSRP for the well-equipped Aerio Sedan S is well below $15,000.

Q: What is the Aerio's main competition?
A: We expect the Aerio to compete with the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Ford Focus, Mazda Protégé and Nissan Sentra.

Q: What is the Aerio SX's main competition?
A: We expect the Aerio SX to compete with the Ford Focus Wagon, Mazda Protégé 5 and, potentially, the Toyota Matrix and Pontiac Vibe.

  • Reinforced uni-body structure with four cross members designed to control impact during a side collision;
  • A, B and C posts built out of high-tensile steel that reinforce the passenger compartment for additional protection;
  • Front and rear crumple zones and side impact beams for added protection; and,
